With my three dimensional composition Orca and Eagle I take inspiration from countless spontaneous moments of natural awe during my career as an ecologist and adventure guide on Canada’s West Coast. The hues, light, shadows and shapes of the Pacific Coast that I represent in this monumental piece are indelibly inked on my soul. They occur in every corner and cove, physical layer and living being of our wild shores and sea. By layering up to seventeen gradients of each special hue I beckon viewers to recall or imagine for the first time their own immersion in our Pacific coast, with every change in the ambient light in your room.

Permanent aluminum dibonding behind 6mm clear acrylate resin facing. Pigment-based ink on slickrock metal paper. Light enters the piece through diamond cut polished edges on the resin, quicksilvering between the inside resin face and the slickrock aluminum. The many-layered gradients shimmer and pop with 3D effect. The acrylic surface is easily cleaned with proper care
